Hi, I’m Bastian.
I’m Bastian Machek, a photographer and free-software developer in the Landshut area of southern Germany. I show my photography as fokuspunk; on GitHub I’m bmachek.
“Doing stuff with cameras and computers” is the short version. I photograph with a Canon EOS R5 Mark II; the full list is on the gear page. I organise and process my photographs in Lightroom Classic, and that is where my software comes in: describing pictures, finding them again, keeping a self-hosted photo library in sync and delivering galleries.
Projects
- LrGeniusAI: I created the project and am its lead developer, under the LrGenius organisation. It adds AI keywords, image descriptions, natural-language search, face recognition and species identification to Lightroom Classic.
- Lightroom Immich Plugin: connects Lightroom Classic to Immich for export, publishing and import.
- Lightroom PicPeak Plugin: I wrote the initial implementation; the plugin now lives under the PicPeak organisation.
- social-mcp: connects a self-hosted publishing workflow to an AI assistant, for Instagram and Facebook Pages.
- MoodSwings: an open-world comedy game built in Rust and Bevy. The Landshüpf variant uses real map data from Landshut.
- CIDP Buddy: an app for infusions, medication, supplies and schedules.
CIDP Buddy
I’m married and a father. I also live with CIDP, chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy, a rare autoimmune disease of the nerves. That is where CIDP Buddy comes from: the app helps to organise infusions, medication, supplies and schedules, with a diary for vitals and symptoms.
